Scar Camouflage: Most Frequently Asked Questions We Get Before, During, and After a Session

Alrighty let's talk about some of the most common concerns/questions we get after a client's first session of scar camouflage

One of the most common concerns that clients have after their first session of scar camouflage is regarding the healing process.

It is important to understand that the healing time for scar camouflage can vary depending on the size and location of the scar. Generally, it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for the treated area to heal.

With that being said... the scar still might look extra dark and that is due to Hyperchromia. Basically we bruised the area pretty good.

This causes a temporary darkening of the skin. This is a normal part of the healing

process and the darkness will gradually fade over typically over the next few weeks.

It is important to avoid sun exposure and excessive sweating during this time to ensure proper healing. Wearing some form of SPF is highly recommended for proper healing for areas in contact with the sun.

Another concern that clients often have is about the longevity of the scar camouflage. While the results of scar camouflage can be long-lasting and never need a touch-up, it is important to note that factors such as sun exposure, skin type, and lifestyle habits can affect the longevity of the treatment. Some clients may require a touch-up session over time to maintain the desired results. Don't let this scare you - many people with traditional tattoos eventually go in for a touch-up session on their tattoos also!

Another concern that clients often have is whether the treatment is painful.

While everyone's pain tolerance is different, scar camouflage is generally not a painful procedure. Some clients report feeling a slight discomfort or pressure during the procedure, but this is usually well-tolerated. Many of our clients look foward to their sessions and feel little to zero pain -some even fall asleep!!

Another question is how long do I need to wait inbetween sessions

The answer to this question can vary depending on a few factors. Generally speaking, we recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks in between sessions. This allows enough time for the skin to fully heal and for the pigment to settle into the skin. However, in some cases, we may recommend waiting longer if the skin is particularly sensitive or if there are any complications such as swelling or infection.

While there may be some common concerns or questions after a client's first session of scar camouflage, it is important to remember that this is a safe and effective procedure that can help improve the appearance of scars and boost confidence.
