At NUDETATU, one of the things we love the most about the beauty industry is a simple truth that beauty has no skin tone. Whatever your skin tone, from fairest fair to deepest ebony, your unique complexion is part of you and just a small part of what makes you beautiful ❤️
Dark skin, light skin, young skin, old skin
Olive skin with light stretch marks..
Pale skin with a dark tummy tuck scar.
The truth is though that while every skin tone is gorgeous, because of the world’s rainbow of complexions, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to skin camouflage and scars.
Every skin tone deserves equal attention and personalized treatment so that your natural beauty can always shine through.
Now I'm sure you might be reading this and might be thinking
"it won't work for me?
Women of color and those who are prone to scarring are often limited on what they can do for their scars & stretch marks because of the risk and complications of hyperpigmentation, You might have wanted to or have already tried certain treatments such as laser, chemical peels, or micro-needling that only made things worse.
The good news is you can get scar camouflage!!
What is Scar Camouflage?
Scars on your body can lower your self-esteem and confidence. Scar camouflage is a long-term solution that works on hiding the scar with tattoo treatment.
Scar camouflage tattoo is a form of tattooing, Although known as medical tattooing, it still follows the basics of traditional tattoos.
So Yes, you can absolutely tattoo on dark skin. There are just a few differences in tattooing dark skin tones vs. light skin tones—kinda like how there are differences in styling curly hair vs. straight hair. But when it comes to the overall structure and makeup of the skin, everyone is the same regardless of skin tone, The major difference between traditional tattoos and skin camouflage tattoo is you see the healing process. Unlike a big colorful tattoo, we are using skin tones so the healing process, which means it isn't covered by bright vivid colors or solid black ink.
Those with darker skin tones & those prone to hyperpigmentation will have the same healing process you just might have longer periods of healing time.
So Scar camouflage tattoo is the exact same as a traditional tattoo?
Yes and No. Aftercare and downtown is basically the same for both.
A major difference between the two is
Matching skin tone; How to create custom shades and blends to individually match each person's skin tone
knowing how to identify a person's undertones,
knowing the skin and scar tissue - you will know when you found the right artist when they can discuss your skin and understand it!
How does it work?
Both ink and inkless scar camouflage technique can smooth out and relaxe the texture of scars by using digital needling to generate micro-trauma to the skin. This stimulates the body’s wound-healing response, leaving your scars more even and less taut.
Scar camouflage and scar tattoo treatments involve a process that adds pigmentation to the scar via tattooing.
Scar camouflage with Ink is actually considered a type of non-surgical medical procedure where a needle is inserted into the scar and deposits inks that mimic the pigment of your skin. Since skin isn’t just one solid color, we create a custom blend to mix and match skin tones to add variety to the skin, masking the scar. Corrective pigmentation can be used on a variety of patients, including those with scars and burns, as well as on patients with skin pigmentation disorders and stretch marks.
The goal is to create a better tone texture and color. To do this we tattoo a customized serum into the stretch mark to force the body’s regenerative response to send collagen, elastin, and melanocytes to the affected area. It takes about 4 weeks to heal before we can determine if additional sessions will be required. You can expect to see 50%-70% improvement after one session but may take up to 5 to reach your goal. Most clients will receive 2-3 sessions.
You might have some other questions about this procedure, which is completely normal. You need to be completely informed before you decide to get this procedure done and you also need to understand your treatment plan. Here are some very often asked questions, answered.
