What Happens After a Microneedling Treatment?

So you just did a microneedling session now what?

should I try microneedling nudetatu redlands ca

Post-MicroNeedling

So you finally had a micro-needling session or are planning/thinking about getting a treatment done. Well, micro-needling for collagen induction (CIT) has so many benefits. Controlled skin injuries produced by micro-needling send the skin into a repair mode that triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin. This is return will help give us that younger-looking skin we all want! Micro-Needling will help kickstart the Collagen but how we treat our skin in the following micro-needling is just as important.

What can I put on my skin at home after treatment?

Remember that you've just created thousands of little micro-injuries on your skin - now it's time for pampering!. How we treat our skin in the days following treatment will dramatically affect the rejuvenation level we experience. We should supplement orally with nutrients that provide the building blocks for collagen and elastin creation; liposomal vitamin C, omega 3, vitamins A, E, and calcium. I haven't been the best at taking vitamins daily. Actually, I sucked at it. Now that I'm in my 40s, I realize how important it is for healthy skin and a healthy you! You can easily take these vitamins as a daily multi-vitamin and work them into your daily routine. Your skin will thank you!!

DAY 0

The day you have micro-needling done, it is all about simplicity. As Dr. Lance Setterfield, the author of The Concise Guide to Dermal Needling, says, “keep it safe, keep it simple.”

Keeping with the safe approach during your micro-needling session, we will only use Hyaluronic Acid serum (which your body already produces). This will act as a lubricant for the micro-needling process. Other vitamins and good stuff will be infused at a later session during a nano infusion session if you want to do that. Because we are going at a medical depth during this treatment, putting anything else on your skin during this process can cause skin irritation.

Quick Rinse

As soon as the needling is finished, the skin will feel hot, look sunburnt, and possibly have evidence of pinpoint bleeding. It is ok to hop in the shower and let water rinse over the skin for 10-20 minutes while massaging away the hyaluronic acid and dried fluids on the face. If you'd rather rinse your skin over the sink, that is ok (however, I prefer the shower option). Just be sure to wash your hands thoroughly prior to and gently massage the skin with lukewarm water only. This rinsing is optional (it is ok to leave the HA on the skin, it just might not be comfortable).

What happens next?

Monthly BREAKDOWN OF POST TREATMENT

baby your skin
feeling a bit pink and dehydrated?

Days 1-6

You'll wake up the next day and rinse your skin (it's ok to wash if you feel you need to, just use a very gentle facial cleanser) and then apply green tea. This can be in the form of a serum/toner (be sure it contains no alcohol or other harsh ingredients!). Green tea is a soothing antioxidant perfect for your dehydrated skin.

(If you don't have this you just want to basically keep your skin hydrated without any harsh chemicals or ingredients)

Some other things that are good for your skin during this stage

  • Green Tea

  • Vitamin C

  • Kiwi seed oil or other high linoleic acid oil: This

  • Moisturiser with ceramides, shea butter

  • SPF!

IF DON'T DON'T HAVE THESE THINGS THE MAIN THING TO REMEMBER IS TO MOISTURIZER

AND SPF!!! (we will be more than happy to give you some samples to take home with you the day of treatment)

  • Remember that the first 5 days are about feeding the skin and replenishing it, helping it to heal. You very well may have flaking and dryness along the way - that's perfectly normal. Although most clients don't really have any flaking.. Also, toward day five, vitamin A may be re-introduced depending on tolerance and the form of vitamin A. VITAMIN A is also known in the form of retinoids, retinol., etc. Vitamin A may help skin, muscle tissue, and other parts of your body heal. While this is very good for the post-needled skin, it can also be very irritating-something we don't want after needling. Proceed with caution with vitamin A.

YOU CAN INCORPORATE WEEKLY, BI-WEEKLY, OR MONTHLY NANO-INFUSION sessions which will help your skin absorb all these good nutrients

Your skin is going through some amazing changes. You might not be able to see them yet but it's happening. Just give it time!

DAYS 6-14

Once you enter the fibroblastic phase (days 6-14) your routine can remain the same but you have more options to add in other skincare products to support new tissue formation. Growth factors and copper peptides are fantastic ingredients at this point as the wounds start to produce new tissue. this is the stage you can also start introducing Nano Infusions into your routine. Keep an eye out for irritation and be mindful of the healing process.

Softer feeling skin
DAYS 15-28

(the time for patience)

Two weeks after your micro-needling session, it will feel like it was in the distant past. But don't be fooled! Your skin is still undergoing profound changes that, if interrupted, could foil your collagen-inducing efforts!! This is the time to be patient. Day 15 is the start of the final phase: the Maturative phase- you will see that once again, your choices for optimal ingredients broadens, and you have much flexibility in your skincare choices.

Also, remember to TAKE PICTURES! Results are often subtle (it's just reality), and we need to compare to see them.
